Strengths for Business Success
Merrill Lynch hosted an interactive networking
event in conjunction with 7 City one of the cities
leading training companies. Daryle Abraham lead
an in depth, informative discussion about how are
brains work, why we behave the way we do and how
to recognise our strengths and strengths in others.
People where seated into like minded groups which
culminated in tables with similar perspectives
and values in discussion (naturally agreeing on
most topics of conversation). The end result was
a valuable insight into what drives human thinking,
behavioural patterns and additionally awareness
of others.

29th March 2006 "Quiz
Evening"
Lehman Brothers hosted a quiz evening on the 29th
March, the event was presented by the comedienne
Gina Yashere. There were 5 rounds of questions,
ranging from "Great Women" to "General
Knowledge" and the competition proved to be
quite fierce, with the winning team being awarded
a bottle of champagne apiece.
The evening focused on informal networking, with
guests being encouraged to mingle and form teams
with fellow WITN members - the objective was to
provide a fun evening where members were provided
with the opportunity to meet each other in a relaxed
environment. Gina, who is renowned for her cheeky
wit and bombastic delivery, certainly introduced
a fun element to the proceedings!

11th May 2005 'Virtual Teams'
Networking
and Leaning opportunity hosted by Morgan Stanley.
Attendees participated in a game
which provided the chance to look at the business
implications and benefits of virtual teams. They
experienced how team overcome challenges when
collaborating across regions, time zones and cultures,
illustrating
how all this come together to achieve success.
There were a lot of laughs throughout the evening,
as well as some incredibly creative models
generated! Food and drink were served throughout
the evening.
23rd February 2005 'Networking Evening'
Hosted
by Goldman Sachs, enthusiastic networkers had
the opportunity to meet a number of different people
throughout the evening, where 'formal' networking
was intermingled with drinks, nibbles and informal
networking. Suggested starter questions, Ice
Breakers
(both controversial and innocent!), and Networking
tips were provided to help anyone who feeling
inexperienced or shy.
14th December 2004 Informal Drinks - held
at Corney & Barrow,
Canary Wharf
18th November 2004 'Panel Discussion'
Merill
Lynch hosted this event where a panel of technologists
from different organisations shared their experiences,
answering questions on topic such as: Taking
Personal Responsibility for your Career, Life in
Technology
within Industry, Balancing Careers with Outside
Interests, and Managing Stakeholder Relationships.
(Building up relationships within other areas
or different levels of the organisation, Working
with
'unique' individuals). Drinks and canapés
were served during the informal networking that
followed.
22nd September 2004 'Wine Tasting'
An informative
and relaxed evening was held at Credit Suisse
First Boston, where an excellent sommelier described
different wines, suggested hints on tasting techniques,
and facilitated some competitive 'blind tastings'.
This generated some surprising results and led
to much informal networking and discussion until
late in the evening! Cheese selections were served
throughout and prizes were awarded to competing
teams.

3rd March 2004 'Coaching Workshop'
Lehman
Brothers hosted an opportunity to consider setting
your
Personal & Professional goals, with a presentation
by an Executive Coaching company, followed by individual
'taster' sessions for Life, Professional or Work
Life Balance Coaching. Drinks and Canapés
were served during informal networking between
the coaching sessions.

23rd September 2003 'Interactive Discussion Evening'
Credit Suisse First Boston hosted a Networking
Evening where participants selected topic from
the following:
- What are the issues for women
working in cultures where women are not widely
accepted
in the workplace?
- How do you manage how others
perceive you? How do you maximise your
technical skills and gain credibility?
- What are the
different skills that women bring to leadership
roles?
- What role can a women's networking group
perform and
what do you hope to gain from the
women in technology network?
Small groups gathered
around tables
with food and drinks, discussed and debated
the topics,
then presented back key points for
everyone's interest.

18th March 2003 'Art of Juggling: Panel
Discussion'
A panel of women at different
stages of their careers shared their views on
balancing different
aspects of their lives to achieve personal & professional
success. An excellent question and answer session
ensued, followed by networking over drinks, hosted
by Accenture.

Inaugural event - early 2003 'Lucy Markus' founder
of 'High Tech Women' gave an introductory speech
on the importance of Networking, helping to kick-start
the Women In Technology Network.
